How to Use Avent Bottle Sterilizer

Advent offers a digital bottle sterilizer that uses no harmful chemicals and offers a six-minute quick sterilization for on-the-go, or a 24-hour sterilization that offers storage.
Step 1
Wash the bottles, nipples, nipple cavities and tops using mild soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
Step 2
Decide which mode you are going to use for the cleaning cycle. Mode 1 is for the six-hour sterilization and Mode 2 is for 24-hour sterilization and storage. Fill and measure 90 mL of water for Mode 1 or 200 mL of water for Mode 2.
Step 3
Place the lower basket into the unit by sliding it over the central stem and allowing the basket to rest on the bottom. Thread two screw rings onto the central stem and slide the bottle rack down onto the central stem with the neck part facing downwards.
Step 4
Position the nipples onto the lower basket with the nipple facing upwards and through the center of the holes on the bottle rack. Thread four screw rings on the central stem.
Step 5
Turn the bottle upside down, with the opening facing downwards and set it on top of the bottle rack in the respective holes. The sterilizer can hold up to six Avent bottles.
Step 6
Put the upper basket on top of the bottles by aligning it and sliding it over the central stem until it rests on the part that will catch it. Place the dome caps, nipple cavities and tongs into the upper basket.
Step 7
Set the assembled basket unit into the sterilizer and place the lid on top.
Step 8
Plug the adapter side of the power cord into the back of the sterilizer and then plug the electrical plug into the outlet. A "0" will be flashing once the machine comes on.
Step 9
Select a "Mode" and press the control button once. The digital number of the mode will display on the unit.
Step 10
Hold the control button for two seconds and release. A "0" will rotate for Mode 1 and three ascending and descending bars will display for Mode 2.
Tip
Substitute tap water for distilled water. Distilled water might help reduce the buildup of limescale that may hinder the operation of your sterilizer.
According to Philips website, sterilizing your unit every four weeks is advisable using 100 ml of vinegar combined with 200 ml of cold water. If you are sterilizing 11 oz. bottles, the upper basket is not required.
When the digital display flashes a "0" and you hear a beep after the sterilization cycle, the bottles and items should be used immediately or resterilized.

Do not remove the lid until you hear the beep indicator that signifies the cycle has ended. In addition, wait for at least 3 minutes after the cycle ends to allow the unit to cool down and prevent injury from occurring.
