When it comes to losing weight it's tempting to take shortcuts. But the truth is there are no easy and fast ways to lose weight. So-called sauna suits won't increase your fat loss. At best you will see a bit of weight loss from water loss; at worst a sauna suit can be dangerous and even deadly.

How They Work

Working out in a sauna suit doesn't increase the amount of fat that you burn. It simply causes you to sweat more. This can provide some minor weight loss from dehydration but you can't expect to lose 10 pounds. What little weight you do lose will return as soon as you re-hydrate.

Dangers

Sauna suits can cause dehydration and because they don't allow sweat to evaporate from your body, they prevent your body from cooling itself off while you exercise. This can lead to heat exhaustion, which is potentially deadly. Following the deaths of three collegiate wrestlers who used sauna suits, the NCAA banned their use in 1997.
