With 825 miles of public beaches, 1,260 miles of varied coastline, numerous state parks and plenty of opportunity for outdoor activities and sports, it's no wonder Florida is a popular destination for an extended camping vacation. A variety of campgrounds across the Sunshine State welcome RV and tent campers year-round and many provide discounted monthly rents so you can enjoy more of what Florida has to offer without the hassle of moving on.

Facilities and Amenities

The campgrounds in Florida that offer monthly discount rates are generally resorts equipped with full amenities and a range of facilities to make your stay a home-from-home. When you're vacationing for a month or longer you need long-term amenities such as phone lines and cable connections. Many campgrounds offer monthly all-inclusive rates covering site, water, sewer, electric and taxes. And don't neglect your fitness by looking for the Florida campgrounds with swimming pools, gyms and sports activities.

Southeast Florida and The Keys

The southeast of Florida and the Keys is one of the most developed regions in the state and provides a whole host of resort campgrounds with monthly rates. Visit this region for the sandy beaches, water sports, diving and swimming as well as some stunning national parks. Leo's Campground in Key West, Florida Keys, has cheaper monthly rates during the off-season — May to September — for RV camping. The campground offers full hook-up facilities and waterfront sites.

Central Florida

Take a long vacation in Central Florida with its wide range of natural attractions and opportunities for outdoors recreation. The St. Johns River, Ocklawaha River and Econlockhatchee River along with over 1,500 lakes and ponds cover you for canoeing, boating and kayaking. The region also boasts many hiking and biking trails. Bee's RV Resort located 9 miles north of Highway 50 on U.S. Highway 27 invites RV campers to stay for months at a time, with discounts offered on the third month of camping.

Southwest Florida

The Florida Gulf offers white sand beaches and water sports, golf courses and deep-sea fishing plus a laid-back atmosphere. The region includes the communities of Florida, Naples and Ft. Myers as well as uninhabited islands and the Everglades area. Sun-N-Fun campground and resort in Sarasota has a range of specials and featured packages including monthly rates and seasonal prices. You're not likely to get bored on a long stay here, with 177 acres of resort, 150 sports and leisure activities, a swimming pool and fishing lakes plus tennis courts and mini golf on offer.

When To Go

Monthly stays are popular in the winter, when "snowbirds" visit Florida campgrounds to escape colder climates. The temperature in winter hovers in the mid-70s. Winter is peak season in the southern part of the state and can be crowded. Summer — July and August — can be sticky and hot with temperatures in the 90s, but this is when many Florida campgrounds offer significant monthly discounts. Consider an in-between month in spring or fall to catch the best deals and enjoyable weather, plus less mosquitoes.
