NitroTech is a protein powder produced by MuscleTech, a company that manufactures a variety of sports nutrition products. Depending on your personal nutritional goals, NitroTech can be an effective workout supplement, but it may not be ideal for everyone. In addition to the protein content, you should consider the other nutrients NitroTech provides. Consult a doctor before using any dietary supplements.

Protein Content

NitroTech can be a good supplement if you want to build muscle, as it contains 25 g of protein per serving, which is half of your daily suggested intake of this nutrient. Protein provides your body with amino acids, which are the building blocks of muscle and other tissues throughout your body. If you have kidney or liver problems, NitroTech may be inappropriate, as consistent intake of high-protein foods may worsen these problems.

Type of Protein

NitroTech can be beneficial because it provides whey protein, a type of protein that is rapidly absorbed by your body, which can be helpful for post-workout recovery. Whey protein may also be suitable for losing weight; research from the May 2010 issue of "Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise" notes that consuming 18 g of whey protein before your workout can increase the amount of calories you burn in the entire day following exercise.

Carbohydrate Content

NitroTech is low in carbohydrates, with just 3 g in each serving. This makes NitroTech a good supplement if you are on a low-carbohydrate diet. However, if you intend to use NitroTech as your sole post-workout supplement, the lack of carbohydrates can be detrimental. Research from the December 2010 edition of the "International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism" notes that carbohydrate intake is vital for restoring muscle glycogen, a key component of muscle recovery.

Fat Content

NitroTech is low in fat, which can make it suitable for low-fat diets. In addition, nutrition researcher Dr. John Berardi explains that low-fat protein sources are preferable for post-workout recovery, as fat can slow absorption of nutrients.

Calorie Content

If you want to lose weight, NitroTech can be a good supplement, because each serving contains 130 calories, just 6.5 percent of the daily suggested intake of 2,000. You could burn off the 130 calories in this supplement through 36 minutes of weightlifting or 13 minutes of jogging. For mass gain, NitroTech may not be ideal, as a calorie surplus is needed to gain weight.
