Even though blackheads are common, they can be a real pain. Though essentially just clogged pores, blackheads can temporarily enlarge the pores, making them more noticeable. Blackheads in the ear are hard to get to and may give the false impression that your ear is dirty. You can get rid of ear blackheads, though it requires a specific technique.

Cleanse your ears well with a mild acne wash. This will get rid of oil from your hair, dirt, wax and dead skin cells that can obstruct your view of the blackhead. Rinse your ear well with warm water.

Make a compress out of a washcloth soaked in warm water. Press this cloth on the blackhead in your ear for several minutes, re-soaking the cloth as needed. This will soften up the material within the pore and make your pore expand and open.

Soak a cotton pad, ball or swab in alcohol. Thoroughly wipe the blackhead with the alcohol to kill bacteria and provide a clean surface on which to work.

Wrap tissues around your index fingers -- or wear latex gloves -- and place gentle pressure on either side of the blackhead. Press down, then up to squeeze out the material blocking the pore. Wipe off the material with a cotton pad.

Wash your ear well, dry the area, then apply a benzoyl peroxide acne cream to heal the pore, shrink it and prevent bacteria from entering it.
