It is always best let pimples heal on their own or consult a doctor to professionally remove a pimple to prevent bacteria from spreading on your skin. If you cannot resist the urge to pop a pimple, it is important to do it in the safest way possible. Properly sanitizing the area and any tools you use is key to minimizing the risk of scarring or infection.
Instructions
Step 1
Thoroughly wash your hands with antibacterial soap and water. Be sure to clean underneath your fingernails as well.
Step 2
Disinfect a brand-new needle. Hold the flame of a match over the tip to sanitize the needle. Properly extinguish and dispose of the match.
Step 3
Disinfect the needle -- once cooled -- with rubbing alcohol.
Step 4
Disinfect the nose area with rubbing alcohol to remove any bacteria or dirt from your skin.
Step 5
Gently puncture the white tip of your pimple with the sterilized needle. Hold the needle parallel to the pimple and gently puncture the tip from the side.
Step 6
Squeeze the pus out of the pimple by gently pressing cotton swabs to either side of it. Be sure to apply pressure around -- not directly to -- the white tip. Do not force fluid out of the pimple if it does not come out easily and be sure to stop if you see blod.
Step 7
Clean the area with rubbing alcohol to ensure that all bacteria is removed.
Tip
If your pimple does have a whitehead or blackhead, it is best to leave it alone and avoid trying to pop it. These deeper, more painful lesions should be treated by a doctor.
warning
Popping a pimple can cause acne bacteria to seep further into your pore or spread onto other areas on the surface of the skin. It is always best to let a dermatologist handle pimple treatment to prevent the risk of infection or irritation.
Avoid using an open flame in an unsafe environment or if you feel in any way unsafe. Follow all reasonable safety practices or consult a professional to avoid the risk of fire.
