Acne is caused by bacteria that infects your pores, leading to breakouts of pus-filled blemishes on your skin. To effectively remove these pustules, you must apply products that reduce and kill acne-causing bacteria on your skin. Cleansing, exfoliating and medicating acne-prone skin with a focus on eliminating bacteria will help your skin become clear faster. It is important to apply these skin care products twice every day, once in the morning and again at night.
Step 1
Apply an antibacterial soap designed for sensitive skin. Antibacterial soap formulated for sensitive skin will destroy bacteria on your skin without irritating it with harsh chemicals. Wet your skin thoroughly and lather up your hands with the soap. Spread the lather around your skin, covering the entire face and avoiding any scrubbing or rubbing. After a couple of minutes, rinse your skin with water. Wash your skin twice per day.
Step 2
Apply a baking soda facial scrub, which removes dead skin and acne-causing bacteria from your skin. Pour 1 tbsp. of baking soda into your hand, and mix 1 tsp. of water into it, making a paste. Spread the baking soda paste onto your skin, and use your fingers to gently massage it around your face. Use small, circular motions. Do not scrub or rub the baking soda into your skin too roughly, which can lead to irritation and damage. After one to two minutes, rinse your skin with water. Apply twice per day after cleansing your skin.
Step 3
Apply benzoyl peroxide cream, which kills acne-causing bacteria on your skin. Use the lowest-strength benzoyl peroxide cream, 2.5% in concentration, which will kill bacteria without severely irritating or inflaming your skin. Smooth an amount about the size of a pea onto your skin, gliding your fingers over your skin until it absorbs the benzoyl peroxide. Reapply benzoyl peroxide twice per day after your skin has been cleansed and exfoliated.
Tip
For best results, apply these products to your face in sequential order to eliminate acne-causing bacteria from your skin.
warning
Keep the benzoyl peroxide cream away from the skin around your eyes, which is more thin and delicate than the rest of your skin.
Avoid getting baking soda into your eyes, which can cause irritation.
