Blush Wine Production

Blush wines can be produced from nearly all types of red grapes. The pale color comes from only allowing the red or black grape skins brief contact with the clear juice during production.

Calories in Alcoholic Beverages

Alcohol contains approximately seven calories per gram. Additional calories come from residual sugars, which can vary between different brands, yielding a range of calories.

Calories in a Glass of Blush Wine

A standard 5-oz. glass of blush wine contains approximately 95 to 127 calories. As with most wines, the majority of the calories are derived from the alcohol. While many other wines have approximately 90 calories per 5-oz. glass, the additional calories in blush wines are derived from the approximately 2.5 percent residual sugars, which produce the sweet taste.
