How to Make Overnight Oats

 by Kim Conte

Overnight oats keep well in the refrigerator for several days, so you can batch it out on Sunday for a weeks’ worth of healthy breakfasts.

Livestrong.com and MyHealthyDish are kicking off the 4-Week Meal-Prep Challenge with one of the easiest recipes for a make-ahead breakfast ever: overnight oats. The rolled oats-soaked-in-liquid mixture keeps well in the refrigerator for several days, so you can batch it out on Sunday for a week's worth of healthy breakfasts.

If you've never made overnight oats before, don't worry: Once you learn the ratio of oats to liquid — one part oats to two parts liquid — it couldn't be simpler to throw together, as you'll see in the step-by-step video below.

We recommend making it in individual jars or containers so you can easily grab a single serving each morning as you head out the door. Plus, you'll be able to vary the toppings each day: fruit, nuts, seeds, spices, yogurt, nut butter, maybe even a bit of dark chocolate if you're feeling naughty — so you never get bored.
