Homeopathic remedies have a long history in treating insomnia in both children and adults. The National Sleep Foundation states that children who have disturbed sleep can have trouble with learning or be hyperactive. Snoring can also disturb children's' sleep. The National Sleep Center suggests 14 to 15 hours of sleep for infants, 12 to 14 for toddlers, 11 to 13 for preschoolers age 3 to 5, and between 8 and 11 hours for school age children and teens. A pediatrician should be consulted about sleep remedies for children prior to attempting any treatment.

Coffea

The homeopathic remedy Coffea cruda is made from coffee beans. The remedy is useful for children who are overly excitable or who experience sudden emotions, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. The children who benefit from this remedy are usually light sleepers who wake early, but who have difficulty falling asleep. The remedy can be used to help children sleep if they have ingested caffeine in the form of chocolate or coffee, and to treat breast-feeding infants who may be exposed to coffee via breast milk.
