If you are a seafood lover, especially a lover of crab, you know that while eating crab legs can be an undertaking, the reward is great. Eating crab legs in a restaurant is a treat but if you want to make them at home, it may seem intimidating. If you are low on time or unfamiliar with how to cook the frozen crab legs you have purchased, you can do so easily with a simple recipe.
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2
Slice the lemons in half. If you prefer, you can remove their seeds, but this is not necessary.
Step 3
Peel one head of garlic and remove the separate cloves.
Step 4
Peel the outer layer from each clove of garlic.
Step 5
Add the bottle of beer, such as an ale or pilsner, to the casserole dish, as well as the six lemon halves and the cloves of garlic.
Step 6
Remove the frozen crab legs from their packaging and rinse them with cool water.
Step 7
Add the frozen crab legs to the casserole dish and sprinkle them with salt, pepper and a seafood seasoning.
Step 8
Cover the dish with a secure lid or aluminum foil. If you use aluminum foil, leave extra room so that you can form a "tent" over the pan. This prevents the crab claws from piercing the foil and helps to retain the steam.
Step 9
Cook the crab legs for 10 to 15 minutes to allow time for them to thaw and cook. While the legs are cooking, it is important not to remove the foil as the steam is what cooks the crab legs. Thawed crab legs only need to be cooked for five minutes.
Tip
The smell of cooked crab legs is usually an indication that they are done cooking.
Serve the crab legs with a side of melted butter for dipping.
