What's not to love about a pumpkin spice latte? If we're talking about the kind from Starbucks, what's not to love is the 50 grams of sugar and 380 calories that comes in a grande-sized PSL. Why not make your own healthy version using our simple homemade pumpkin spice latte recipe.

What's not to love about a pumpkin spice latte? If we're talking about the kind from Starbucks, what's not to love is the 50 grams of sugar and 380 calories that comes in a grande PSL, as well as the addition of mono- and diglycerides (a type of incomplete fat added to processed foods to help increase shelf life and/or bind ingredients). And then there is the fact that the popular Starbucks drink will set you back as much as $4.25 (sometimes more, sometimes less depending on your location), which adds up quick.

So what's a pumpkin spice latte lover to do? Why not make your own healthier, more delicious version with just six ingredients using our simple recipe. It comes in at 115 calories and 15 grams of sugar — that's 35 grams less sugar than the Starbucks version.

All you need in order to realize your DIY fall-beverage dreams is vitamin A-rich pumpkin puree, fragrant pumpkin pie spice, your favorite type of milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract and coffee. If you have an espresso machine, by all means, go for espresso. If you don't own one, then you can use four ounces of very strong coffee instead.

Maybe you'd like to pair your homemade PSL with these gluten-free and protein-packed pumpkin pancakes. Does that qualify as pumpkin spice overload? We'll leave that for you to decide.
