Anyone who suffers from severe heartburn knows how painful and discomforting the symptoms can be. Burning pains rising up the esophagus from the stomach, a feeling of a hole being burned in the center of the body, bloating, belching, difficulty lying down to sleep and a wide array of aches and pains impact a person's daily life and well-being. Below are several inexpensive remedies available on grocery store shelves to cure heartburn fast and bring almost instant relief.

Step 1

Eat an apple, or even just a slice or two. Experts at Earth Clinic recommend eating sweet apples for relief of heartburn symptoms. The old adage, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" applies today as much as ever.

Step 2

Drink organic apple cider vinegar for immediate relief of heartburn, also recommended by Earth Clinic and Dr. Theodore Baroody in his book, "Alkalize or Die." The apple cider vinegar can be taken in one of several ways.

Take it straight in a spoon if you like the taste. If that is too strong, mix 1 to 2 tsp. in 8 oz. water and drink the entire glass for heartburn relief. If it bothers you start with ½ tsp. mixed in water. If you really don't like the sour taste, mix 1 tsp. of organic, raw honey in the water mixture.

Step 3

Take 1 or 2 tsp. full of organic raw honey straight, for acid reflux pain relief. Again, Dr. Baroody is a strong advocate of using foods high in potassium to help alkalinize the body by creating an alkaline-forming state. Honey stimulates the digestive juices helping to produce not only the main digestive juice, hydrochloric acid (HCL), but also bicarbonate created in the pancreas. Together these balance the system creating a more alkaline state where acid-forming foods are neutralized.

Step 4

Drink bicarbonate of soda, also known as baking soda, mixed with water for fast relief from burning pains of gastroesophageal reflex disease. The Drugs website suggests taking ½ tsp. baking soda in an 8 oz. glass of water every two hours and sipping it slowly to reduce heartburn pain and bloating immediately. A doctor may advise differently on dosage. Baking soda can raise the blood pressure so those with hypertension should be cautious.

Tip

Try one or all of the above natural remedies for fast pain relief from heartburn.
