Halle Berry has been on the keto diet for years as a way to manage her Type 2 diabetes – It also happens to be a major secret to her ageless look.

Earlier this year, Berry revealed that she initially went on the high-fat, low-carb diet as a way to manage her Type 2 diabetes. Now she's sharing exactly what she eats in a day to stay in such fabulous shape.

Breakfast

The actress might start a typical morning with a juice of beets and some of Purium's Scoop of Greens, a dietary supplement containing barley and wheatgrass that the company claims may help support healthy glucose levels for people with diabetes.

Lunch

For lunch, Berry has a handful of green beans with Bolognese sauce. Traditional Bolognese sauce contains a lot of fat, which might be good for Berry's keto diet. But if you're looking for a leaner version of this dish, check out this turkey Bolognese recipe, which uses less-fatty meat and cuts out all that oil and butter.

Dinner

Berry's dinner of arctic char topped with olive salsa looks to be balanced out with a side of mashed cauliflower, a yummy low-carb, low-calorie substitution for those heavy mashed potatoes.

Snack

Because her diet is geared toward managing her diabetes, Berry makes sure to have four small meals a day, she once told Women & Home South Africa. Here, she's about to nosh on an aesthetic plate of "cheese tulips," or cheese-stuffed cherry tomatoes and scallions.

The "X-men" actor also revealed via Instagram Stories two of her favorite keto-friendly, low-calorie snacks that you can grab on the go. The first is sea salt-flavored Skinny Pop Mini Popcorn Cakes, which contain 120 calories, no sugar, four grams of fiber and 14 grams of carbs per 22-cake serving.

The second? Sonoma Brinery Smokey Chipotle Raw Sauerkraut. This unconventional snack made from fermented cabbage contains around just 40 calories per cup and comes packed with gut-healthy probiotics, which help to prevent inflammation, boost immunity, improve your mood and support mental health.

Berry swore by the keto diet earlier this year, going on about all the benefits she's received since starting it years ago. "The keto lifestyle offers so many benefits, such as weight loss (moms, that's how we get rid of our baby bellies), appetite control, more energy and better mental performance," she writes on Instagram. "If you're like me, you can possibly reverse Type 2 diabetes, you'll experience better physical endurance, better skin and also less acne (if that's an issue). And it even helps control migraines!" Berry also credits the diet for slowing down her aging process.

In case you've been ignoring that one friend who won't stop talking about the keto diet, it works by forcing your body to burn fat instead of carbs. And it works fast: Experts say that your body can enter a state of ketosis in one to two days and that you may be able to lose more than 12 pounds in one month while on the diet.

If you're interested in trying the keto diet, whether you have Type 2 diabetes or simply want to look forever young like Berry (hey, we can dream), be sure to consult a physician first.
