Respiratory Symptoms
Individuals with double pneumonia may develop a number of respiratory-related symptoms, according to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. If you have double pneumonia, you may experience chest pain that fluctuates as you breathe—a condition called pleurisy. You may also have difficulty breathing or experience shortness of breath. Some patients with double pneumonia may experience a cough that persists for several days. Constitutional Symptoms
The Mayo Clinic notes that individuals with double pneumonia may develop a number of symptoms throughout the body. The most common symptom is an unexplained fever for several days in a row, especially if your body temperature exceeds 102 degrees Fahrenheit. Certain patients with double pneumonia may also experience chills or excessive sweating. Chills may be severe enough to induce noticeable shaking throughout the body, according to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Adults over 65 may only exhibit mild symptoms of double pneumonia or may have a lower than normal temperature, according to the Mayo Clinic; however, these individuals are at higher risk of developing severe infection.
